Sandra Puente
Now in her second term as Chair of Harris County
Tejano Democrats, Sandra is a fourth generation Texan with roots in
South Texas and
Houston’s historical First
and Second Wards. Sandra
spent several years working in broadcast marketing and sales before
discovering that she could really cause a ruckus in
Texas
politics. Sandra has worked
for or volunteered for some of
Houston’s finest public servants including Harris
County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, State Representatives Jessica Farrar and Council Member Edward Gonzalez.
Sandra holds a Bachelor of Science
degree from UH-Downtown and is considering applying for graduate school
while simultaneously curbing the urge to study for law school entrance
exams. Currently, Sandra is
Statewide Field Director for Texas Association of Community
Organizations for Reform Now, and working on passing health care
legislation in Congress.
Her father, Juan Puente Sr., is a
Vietnam Veteran and designer in the offshore oil industry where he has
worked for more than 30 years. Her mother, Patricia, is a 19-year
Houston
Independent
School District
employee and the reason Sandra tries so hard to do good things. Sandra has 3 brothers, one sister, a niece, Avery Savannah and
one nephew, Brooks Charles.
